International Youth Day

August 12th is International Youth Day. We wanted to take the opportunity to get to know some of the youth working in our organization. So, we did some interviews with some of our staff. We will be adding to this page all week. Take some time and learn about some of these fine individuals.

First off we have Maiya O from our Glastonbury location.

Maiya is 15 years old, currently in Grade 10, and her favorite subject in school is Math.

Maiya is the youngest among the Glastonbury family, and she has been with us since May of 2024. She is one of our Guest Experience Leaders, and proud to say, has always been given great feedback from guests because of her prompt service and good interaction with them. Maiya loves talking with her co-employees as she gains lessons from their life experiences.

During her spare time, she loves hanging out with friends and family. Bonding time with them includes as simple as watching tv, or a walk in Downtown.

Maiya misses being carefree as a child. As she is now a teenager, she is more cautious on how she acts and the way she speaks, especially when around people older than her, or with authority.

Here is Ariam who is working at Castledowns McDonalds.

She is 17 years of age and has graduated this year from Highschool. Her favorite subject was English classes because she enjoys creative writing especially writing essays.

Ariam just recently returned back to McDonalds from focusing on school last year. Ariam favorite part of working at McDonalds is making new friends and having a second family.

During her spare time, she loves to cook for her family cooking a variety of dishes ranging from savory to sweet treats. Having no stress and having lots of free time is what she remembers most about being a kid.

Ariam plans to attend McEwan College in September and taking Nursing and becoming a registered Nurse.

Meet Cisil who is working at Castledowns McDonalds.

Cisil is 17 years of age that is going into grade 12. Her favorite subject in school is Math and computer science because it guides her into a field, she is most interested in.

Cisil started with us on April 28^th of this year. Cisil favorite part of working at McDonalds is the amazing friends she has created and sees them as long terms friendships and also interacting with guest in drive thru or front counter.

She enjoys reading and relaxing during her downtime.

The thing she most misses is being carefree as a kid with no worries in the world. Cisil plans to attend University and enrol in computer science.

Next we have Honey from Castledowns

Honey is 17 years of age that is going into grade 12. Her favorite subject in school is math because she enjoys solving mathematical questions.

Honey started with us since July 9^th of last year. Honey favorite part of working at McDonalds is interacting with co-workers and customers.

Dance is a big part of Honey’s free time as she has been taking classes for many years and finds a balance between school and dancing.

The remembers as a kid she misses playing with her relatives back home.

Honey plans to attend university of Alberta and enroll in Bio-Chemistry.

Here is Rana also from the  Castledowns McDonalds

Rana is 18 years of age that is taking a gap year after completing Highschool. Her favorite subject is math she enjoys working with numbers and feels this is the easiest subject for her.

Rana started with is since July of 2021. Rana favorite part of working at McDonalds is the friendship she has created over the years here.

Rana is a big outdoor fan where she enjoys hanging out with her friends.

The fondest memories she has about being a kid is having no worries in the world.

Rana future plans is taking a gap year and weighing her options of nursing school or dentistry.
