We would like to extend our congratulations to Jason Whalen on receiving the McDonald’s Outstanding Manager Award for 2020.  Recipients of this award have the distinction of being recognized among the top 5% of McDonald’s Restaurant Managers across Canada.

The award recognizes individuals who have gone above and beyond their responsibilities to maintain outstanding results in guest satisfaction and business results while cultivating an exceptional work environment for people to grow and develop their skills.

Jason began his career as a general crew person in November 2003, at our Spruce Grove location.   He is a sound example of how leaders are developed internally at McDonald’s, receiving several promotions in his first three years culminating in becoming the Restaurant Manager of that same location in 2006.  In the summer of 2017, Jason seized an opportunity to transfer to our Lewis Estates location, one year after the site had opened, and immediately made an impact on sales growth and employee engagement.

Jason has delivered a truly exceptional year for us in 2020 despite the challenges of operating during a global pandemic. He has displayed excellent strategic focus to drive results in all areas of our business. His focus on people has allowed him to promote six managers in the past 18-months and carry on the legacy of developing our future leaders from within.  People have been the foundation that continues to allow our Lewis Estates location to grow and outperform the Alberta market.

Jason continues our organizations’ tremendous success joining Moses Macalalad, Joel Velasco, and Ashley Delorme as previous winners of the Outstanding Manager Award in the last three years.  In a year that has seen Jason get married, welcome his first child with wife Danielle, purchase a new family home and celebrate 17 wonderful years of service, this award truly speaks to his ability to strike a work/life balance while accomplishing exceptional job performance.  Congratulations Jason on your well-deserved recognition.

*Recipients of the Manager of the Year Award receive $700 CAD, a customized trophy and celebratory dinner with company ownership.
